The telehandler certification is valid for three years, as with all forklift ceritifcations. This aligned with OSHA, ANSI, CSA, and industry best-practices.
However, OSHA also requires refresher training and recertification before the three-year mark in the following cases:

Observed operating a telehandler unsafely
Failing an evaluation of telehandler operation
Operating a different type of telehandler than previously certified for
Workplace conditions change, affecting telehanlder operation
Once certification expires or a refresher is required, operators must complete new training and an evaluation to stay compliant.
