Overhead Crane Operator Online Certification – Canada

The overhead crane operator online training program is designed to build the knowledge and decision-making skills workers need to operate equipmenty safely and in compliance with the CSA B167 Overhead cranes, gantry cranes, monorails, hoists, and jib cranes standard.

Organized into four progressive modules, the program builds from crane fundamentals and equipment knowledge through to rigging and safe operation. Each module concludes with a knowledge assessment to confirm comprehension and understanding before allowing operators to advance to the next module.

The overhead crane operator online training program is designed in alignment with the following overheads safety standards and regulatory requirements:

•  CSA B167:26 Overhead cranes, gantry cranes, monorails, hoists, and jib cranes
• ANSI/ASME B30.2 – Overhead and Gantry Cranes (Top Running Bridge, Single or Multiple Girder, Top Running Trolley Hoist)
• Provincial/Territorial OHS Regulations

Practical Training Component

It’s important to note that in order to completely satisfy the requirements of the standards, workplace and equipment-specific training must be completed by the employer, along with a practical evaluation. These workplace training components cannot be completed by any third-party provider, whether they offer online or live training. The reason for this is that each workplace is different and poses unique hazards. An employer is best suited to train workers on these unique circumstances that exist within their workplace and their specific equipment.
